Most of us fear something. The reason we tend to do so is because we often expect the worse to happen. We end up worrying about something that hasn’t even happened yet; as hideous as that may sound, all of us have done it at some point in our lives! It’s like walking around with an umbrella waiting for it to rain! Fear is pointless!

As a part of some personal mentoring we’ve done in the past, one of our clients was terrified of public speaking. He had this fear because he wasn’t sure if he would be received well by his audience and he was lacking a lot of confidence. He had seen public speakers get mocked in the past by large audiences for reasons such as stuttering. This led him to believe that the same could happen to him. He actually went into his first gig with this fearful mentality and as a result, he struggled when speaking. He also noticed individuals giggling to themselves. This made his confidence worse; he had let fear create a bad experience which led him to lack self-belief. Without going into the detail about what we did to restore his confidence, we must point out one thing. When we fear and expect the worse, we are unconsciously creating that outcome. As the Law of Attraction states, thoughts become things! We’re not saying it’s easy or always as straight forward as rejecting fear, but what we do want to say is that you should apply enough faith in the desired result, to make fear irrelevant to your outcome. Faith is the driving force to all possibilities.

Feed your fears and your faith will starve. Feed your faith, and your fears will.Max Lucado

When making decisions, apprehension is productive. Once a decision is made, fear is a hindrance. If you’re making your debut as a professional footballer and you’re nervous (which is perfectly normal), it may affect your performance during the match. It can make you hesitant and unfocused. If you remove the fear, the situation is still exactly the same situation, but your performance will be improved. You let go of doubt so you can create the experience you want. The reason why so many public figures such as Cristiano Ronaldo have been labelled as being “out of this world” is because they have reached a level of excellence that can’t exist if fear is present.
