There are certain aspects in our lives where quality trumps quantity. Whether it be particular products or even certain relationships we have with people, both examples are where quality matters more. Would you rather be someone with lots of friends, but don’t have a true friendship with any of those so-called friends? Or would you rather have a few good friends, that are truly your friend and can count on them for anything?

That’s definitely something to think about, and probably something you don’t even realize happened initially. You just kind of realize one day that the things or people you used to do or enjoy, no longer give you that same type of enjoyment.

Once you realize that, your life changes. People around you may think you have your nose in the air, but it’s not even that. You’ve grown and matured to the point that you know what you like and don’t like, as well as you know who and what you will and will not tolerate. It’s definitely a huge reality check, but it’s just one of those things that come with maturity. Check out these areas in your life where you don’t want to skimp out on quality.

1. Home Decor

Home decor is a big one when it comes to quality. Couches and table lamps are not something you’re wanting to have to go out and buy every couple of months due to it falling apart. You want home decor of good quality so that it will last you.

For example, you don’t want sheets that come off the mattress with every toss and turn, nor do you want throw pillows where the threading will unravel at any moment. For the sheets, you want sheets that will be soft to your skin and allow you to sleep peacefully through the night without the fitted sheet coming off the mattress. For your throw pillows, you want high-quality pillows that give a signature look but are also durable and versatile.

2. Travel

You know what they say… go big or go home! That saying definitely applies with travel. If you’ve taken time off of work and invested your hard-earned money on a trip, then that trip needs to be memorable! You can always save up and hop on a plane and travel somewhere, but as you travel more and experience different qualities of travel, you’ll soon only accept travelling to destinations of high-quality, where the customer service and amenities are also high in quality.

3. Clothing

When you were younger, it was okay to run to the little stores in the shopping centre to grab a cute, yet cheap little outfit for when you didn’t have anything to wear. The only thing about those types of clothes is that, once you washed them, they shrunk tremendously, or they severely unravel to the point of not being able to wear it anymore.

You’ll eventually hit a point where you get tired of your clothes falling apart in the wash, and desire clothes of higher quality that will last you longer. You might be able to find a cute blouse for $10.00, but it will last you one good wear out of it. On the flip side, you could invest $20.00 for a blouse and it lives in your closet for years, due to the quality of the materials it’s made from as well as the stitching in how it’s made.

4. Relationships

When talking about the quality of relationships, I’m not just talking about romantic relationships…there are all kinds of different relationships that people have. Ultimately the relationships you have with people, you want them to be good relationships. Let’s take a look at the different relationships where quality is very important.

Romantic

In a romantic relationship, there will, of course, be ups and downs, but ultimately the goal of romantic relationships is for it to grow into something more and the love to bring you closer together. That’s where the quality will come in. You’ll learn to appreciate the little things you do for each other, and to experience that with one person is way better than getting bits and pieces of quality in multiple relationships… that’s the whole point of dating. You experience those bits and pieces of quality until you find that one who can give you the whole quality package.

Friends/Family

The same theory applies with friends and family, but it’s slightly different, in the aspect that you can’t pick your family, but you do have a sayso in who you allow in your life as your friends. When you were younger, the “it” thing was to be popular, surrounded by friends. As you grew older, you began to see who your true friends were (quality) and who were there just to be in your circle (quantity).

Work

It’s very important to have good quality work relationships among coworkers, and among employees to their manager. Sometimes a manager may say they have an open door policy, which allows an employee to come to the manager with any concerns, but it doesn’t always feel that way to employees. There is a happy medium between employees and managers, but it takes that employee and manager to find it.
