Goals are dreams with deadlines. And without a clear and detailed action plan you are not likely to achieve your goal. At least it will be much harder to wade through the unexpected obstacles if you don’t have a plan. So how do you create one? Get a nice planner, a pen and let’s do it.

1. Know where to go

First and foremost, you need to know where you’re heading. If your objective is vague and unclear it will be tough to achieve it. How can you be sure that you’ve reached your goal if you don’t know exactly what it is.

2.Get a planner

Once you’ve got the goal in your head, make it tangible and write it down. Get a nice planner, that’s going to inspire and motivate you. If you’d rather use digital technology, just use a note-taking tool.

3. Point out the resources

After that think of all the resources you might need along the way and all the people you’ll have to contact. It’s better to consider these things beforehand.

4. Bite enough just to chew

Once you’ve started planning, it’s possible that you’ll get overwhelmed. To avoid that, divide your work into digestible tasks. This way you won’t get exhausted and demotivated and you’ll get closer to your objective one small step at a time.

5. Set the landmarks

Next thing is setting the milestones. Now that you’ve divided the work into chunks, make sure the deadlines are realistic and the results are measurable. This way you’ll be able to track the progress and adjust the future time limits if necessary.

6. Consider obstacles

Another important thing you need to be aware of when writing an action plan is considering the obstacles. If you plan ahead some extra time for overcoming challenges, you’ll save yourself from additional stress.

7. Take breaks

Finally, remember to rest. If it’s all work and no rewards you’ll pretty soon run out of motivation. Having reached each milestone buy yourself a piece of cake, go out for drinks or see a movie, pick one to your liking. The aim is to restore your peace and calm your mind.
