Before we get into detail we would like to share some information with you. Everyone that is involved with Bon Vita as a company has attended university. We do not regret this decision or any other decisions in our lives, because every experience provides with it an opportunity to learn – and we don’t just mean academically in this case. This post should be used for perspective and guidance only. You may also find that many points are geared towards Entrepreneurship; this is because we have used this as our main example throughout the post.

Do I need to go to university? This question is pretty simple to answer, but we tend to overcomplicate it for a number of reasons. The answer to this question is as follows… If you wish to do a degree-related job then sure, go to university! For example, to become a dentist you must do a dentistry degree at university. However, if you dream of becoming an entrepreneur for example, then you must ask yourself, is university really necessary?

Although university can be a great learning experience, even for aspiring entrepreneurs, there’s nothing more valuable than real-life experience. In fact there are great Apprenticeship programmes which will give you first-hand experience for certain jobs, without you having to attend university. You can also complete a masters in education online. You must also ask yourself, is a degree really worth the time (that I’ll never get back), effort and money that I’m going to invest into it? Could it be more valuable investing those things in your dreams if they differ from university? In terms of money, you should also consider the high costs associated with independent learning too; including university fees, accommodation costs, living expenses and the debt you can easily accumulate with student loans (and their high interest rates).

The biggest reason we believe that youngsters tend to overcomplicate this issue is not solely due to their own reasoning but because of external pressures. And because of this, many people do not go down the route they were naturally destined for, in alignment with their soul-purpose and for their highest good, so that they can experience true fulfilment. These people are made to live against free-will. Or they’ve been told that the only way to experience success or have a decent, well-paid job is to attend university; this is often what society wants us to believe, but we must remember that 98% of society lives normal lives, while only 2% live extraordinarily. Also, if the education system can encourage us to work for others and not ourselves, like an entrepreneur would, they can keep us in control and make us become an active part of their society so they can keep it running.

Does the world really need misled individuals who aren’t doing what they love? Would we benefit more from purposeful people who are truly passionate about what they do? A doctor who’s always dreamed of aiding the health of others is far more beneficial to the world than someone who just perceives it as being a good job, or someone who has little interest in it but has become a doctor due to external pressures. Those who are in love with what they do, will do more than expected, to improve the world around us.

Sometimes the direct misleading influence can come from parents. A lot of parents have lived a much harder life than most of us will ever see and their advice can be priceless. However a lot of youngsters are made to believe that life must be followed in a certain way – this is often through the parents’ own fears of life going wrong, which have been created by their own experiences. You need to know that the Universe will always support your purpose and that you’ve been given guided intuition which will help you make the right choices. Tomorrow is never promised and although going to university may give you a somewhat satisfactory life, your heart’s true wishes may never be fulfilled. If you have a dream, pursue it – don’t be scared, don’t think that you need to live life in the conventional way that’s sold to you, just have faith and work hard. Any obstacles, difficulties or hardship will just help you by bringing you closer to what you wish for.

There are many people who have been University and then found their own paths – this can be done, of course it can be done, but it’s a risk and we’ve left a great quote in respect to this at the end of this post. The truth is, you can go to university, get a degree, get a job and then find your true path. But why wait?

Some people are also led to believe that you can fund dreams through a degree-related job, yet by doing this, you must realise that you’ll be on a completely different path to your dreams. Imagine a path that leads to your dreams and another that leads to “top of the food chain” in your chosen degree-related career. There’s no bridge between these paths, and often, the higher you go up the career path, the harder it is to move onto your dream path. If your dreams require investment that you don’t have, your career path might be great help, but you’re probably going to be tied into a lifestyle that you cannot just leave without great thought – as we mentioned above, there’s no bridge. However, if you’re on your dream path, you could take stops along the way where you get this capital without making major lifestyle changes, if you decide they no longer suit your needs. A part-time job or buying and selling online are both great examples. It’s almost as if you’re going to get some gas for your car on the way to your dreams. It’s much easier to reach your dreams if you’re getting your gas from stations along the right path, rather than the wrong path!

There’s a lot to consider when making the choice of going to university, and only you know whether it’s right for you. Always listen to your intuition as mentioned earlier; it’s very powerful! Going after your dreams is scary, we know, but please believe that anything you can imagine is possible, even if you don’t know where to start.

“And then there is the most dangerous risk of all — the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.” –  Randy Komisar.
